In the field of electrical engineering I am interested in mixed signal design, where the analog world meets the digital world. I studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente, specializing in IC design.

There are lots of different projects that I like to work on, involving electronics, programming and web development. Teaching is an other thing that I love to do. In addition to that, I like to go windsurfing or just grab my mountain bike and go out there!

RGB lamp

Remote controlled RGB lamp with extra top light. The top light can be switched on or off using the remote controller. One of the challenges of this project is that I used an existing remote control that had no documentation, therefore I had to decode the bitstream myself.

5v Isolator

This module makes it possible to connect the bluetooth module and the amplifier to the same power source. It isolates the power supply thus preventing the noise due to ground looping.

Battery Check

The capacity of (sealed) lead acid batteries decreases significantly when the battery level is discharged to far. The Accucheck offers a solution for this. The Accucheck also provides an battery level indication using a status led.

USB power source

Efficient 7V - 24V USB power supply. Can be used in a portable speaker system for mobile phone charging of mobile phones

Capacitive Volume Control

Controlling the volume of an audio device is traditionally done using a potentiometer. A disadvantage of a potentiometer is that it is not a very sustainable solution. A capacitive volume controller is a good alternative for this because it has no mechanical parts. The volume can be adjusted by touching the volume up or volume down button.

Bluetooth Audio Module

Streaming your own music wireless to an amplifier is a great way to listen to music. This can be done via Bluetooth because it is already supported by many devices (phones, mp3 players, laptops).
